"Yeah but I wish that it would go down faster. Because even with crutches I won't be able to move around too much. I just hate laying around here but considering that my knee is still swollen up I don't think you'd appreciate it if I moved around too much." He said and then frowned, he wasn't in as bad of mood as he had been before but he still wasn't in the best of moods. He knew that he'd hurt Ryan by mentioning Greg like he had and the next time that he saw him he would apologize. Since he knew that he hated it when people shoved something about Alex in his face all of a sudden. And what he said about Greg had just been so out of place he could understand why Ryan might want to yell at him for saying something like that. But he knew that Ryan would probably understand how stressed out he had been he didn't think that something like that would happen.
"Really, well then why did I hear screaming? Never mind, it was probably a television or something." He said and knew that he could just ask Ryan about it later. But, if it was something that he didn't want him knowing about then he probably wouldn't tell him. He heard her next question and then he sighed, he'd hoped that she'd never know about that. "It's just that you're so..unlike me. Everybody just expects me to have flings like Ryan does and I don't know." He said and knew that his answer probably didn't make any sense but he was still a little tired at the moment. His eyes wandered over to her arm since he didn't want to look her in the face at the moment and it was then that he noticed the bruise on it. "Where did you get that from?" He asked curiously and wondered if a ton of things had went on while he was asleep. Was it possibly that he could have slept through some major event?

She sighed softly and squeezed his hand gently. "I know how it is, Thomas. You forget that I was stuck in a hospital bed for a month with limited movement." She said gently as her thumb grazed over the back of his hand softly. She was about to answer his question before he simply dismissed it. She nodded gently.
She tilted her head and frowned softly. "Who cares? Thomas, you're the first guy that's ever thought you didn't diserve me. All the other guys I dated just took me for granted and some of them just used me. You're one of the best things to happen in my life, especially in the last six or seven months." She said softly noticing he looked away from her. She looked down at the ground for a moment brushing away a clump of locks to get them out of her face. She looked to him and frowned softly then followed his line of vision and her eyes rested on the bruise that Neils had given her. She looked back up at him and shrugged soflty. "You're going to laugh at this, but uh... I was walking down the stairs and my leg gave out on me. My arm hit the rail before I grabbed it to keep me from falling down the steps." She said gently looking up at him. She was hoping that he would believe her because she didn't want him to get into any kind of arguement with Neils.

"I'm thinking that what you just said may be part of the reason of what drove Alex out of his mind. Since he was layed up for a very long time and just when he was starting to regain his mobility he got hurt again and was layed up once more. Yes, I know that I've been talking about him a lot today but..it's just that there's only maybe four of five people that I can freely talk about him with." He said and then looked at her, he wondered if she knew what it felt like to have friends scared t come over to your house because they were afraid that they were going to get hurt by your little brother. A few of them actually had been hurt by Alex and now they wouldn't go near him with a ten foot pole. He hoped that with this break at Ryan's that things would start to work out and that Alex would either shape up or be sent to someplace to actually get better and not be sent home until he was. But the odds of that happening were slim unless his sister or his parents got hurt by Alex.
"You're one of the reasons why I wasn't always running off here when things got bad. Since I kept hoping that if I gave him time that things would work out. It's nice to know that somebody else actually appreciates me though because it seems like few people do." He said and knew that he probably was so down about things due to everything that had happened within the past few days but he knew that it would be awhile before he could shake this depressed feeling completely. Maybe once he was better he could go off partying with Ryan once for old times sake, maybe that would make him feel better. "I'm not going to laugh at sometime like that. Are you ok though because I know that must have hurt a lot. At least you didn't fall all the way down the steps though." He said and then looked at her, he was actually more concerned about her then he was himself. Because he knew that it probably was a lot easier for Jeanette to hurt herself then it was for him.

She looked at him and nodded. "I know it's what drove him crazy because it drove me crazy just being laid up in the hospital bed for the first week much less a month." She said softly looking at him. She could understand where Alex was coming from in some aspects, but she didn't know how he had managed to escalate so horribly. She looked down at her leg thinking back to that depressing month she had been stuck in a hospital bed watching the competitions as much as she could. She had slowly started to come to the realizationt that she wouldn't be able to compete after the first week being stuck with nothing to do. She slowly had slipped into a silent depression. She didn't talk, she hardly ever ate. All she did was watch the figure skating competitions or read.
She looked back at him and smiled gently. "I don't just appreciate you Thomas. I... I love you." She said softly looking down at her hand. She wasn't expecting an "I love you" back from him, but she felt she needed to say it. She knew it was such a girl thing to jump into the relationship emotions so soon, but she couldn't help herself. She looked back at her arm then up at him. "It didn't hurt to much. It was just one of those moments where you're to scared senseless to pay attention to the pain, and plus I had taken some pain killers abou an hour and a half prior to that. It was just one of my klutzy moments." She said gently. Well she had told the truth somewhat. It hadn't hurt that much and she had taken a few pain killers before they got here. The lie would hold well for now. For now being the key term. She was starting to get worried that he would find out about Neils storming in and out of the Andrews's home in the gossip column some how. She noted that he seemed worried about her more than himself, and she felt a little more guilty that she had to lie about something like that.

"I shouldn't have driven him crazy though because well, for the first two weeks he was in a coma. But still, when he was conscious I was there every single moment that I could be. One time I even skipped school because he wanted me there. I mean, sure he was upset about everything that happened to him but he was always bringing basketball up. It's like when it's like when the time came for him to come home he just stopped." He said as a random memory came to his head of his parents trying to get him to a doctors appointment but Alex was literally digging his heels into the ground yelling that he wasn't going. His parents probably didn't even know that he'd seen that happen but he had, since he hadn't left to go over to a friends house, probably Ryan's right away.
He heard her say that she loved him but he couldn't say it back for some reason. Maybe it was because he wasn't used to saying that and the fact that for a long time the only thing that he ever did with girls was play with them by flirting. "That's good to know then I guess because if you would have fallen then I'm not so sure I would have woken up. And unless Ryan was around you might have stayed wherever you landed for awhile. I really hate to think about that though so I'm choosing not to." He said said and then looked over to the door, he wondered if anybody had came over while he was gone.

She looked at him and frowned softly. "Don't give up on him, Thomas. He may not act it, but he needs you now more than anything to believe in him." She said as she squeezed his hand comfortingly for a moment. "Do ya'll have video tapes of Alex playing basketball or anything before the accident? It doesn't have to be basketball specifically, just something before the accident." She asked softly looking at him curiously. She had a very intersting idea that she was hoping would at least sink into Alex if they had video tapes of him before the accident.
She looked down at her hand that held his when he didn't say anything. She wasn't expecing him to say it, but she had hoped that maybe he would, but once again there goes womanly fantasies of love. She looked back up at him and frowned softly. "Well, that didn't cross my mind until after it happened and I sat on the stairs for a few shaky moments to pul myself back together." She said gently a little happy that he at leasted cared about her enough to worry even though it didn't really happen, but he didn't know that and she wanted to keep it that way for a long time.

"It's kind of hard to believe in him when he hurts me, and my friends. He's told me that he hates me numerous times." He said and wondered if Alex knew how much had hurt the first time that he'd heard that after the accident. He could still remember that happening, his parents had asked him to go into Alex's room and talk to him. And the first thing out of his mouth was "I hate you go away and never come back". After that had happened he'd left his house and drove around for about two hours before he realized how far he was from home. He'd driven about a quarter of the way back and then slept in his truck at a wayside before finally coming back home the next day. He'd told his parents that he'd been at a friends house and they'd believed him since he'd had Ryan back his story up. He knew that something like that probably would happen again, most likely soon.
"Yeah, and I think that there's some video here if you want to be entertained by it. It should be in the cabinet next to the t.v. and the tapes should be marked Alex. They're probably a little dusty because I brought them over here ages ago since I couldn't stand to look at them." He said and knew that she probably wanted to show them to Alex or something. But he knew that wouldn't work because it probably would take at least three guys to keep Alex in one place simply because you had to make sure he didn't hurt anybody. Not to mention he'd close his eyes or something so that he didn't have to watch or something. Either that or he'd yell and scream and make the whole neighborhood wonder what was going on. He knew that type of thing went on why his parents brought him to his psychiatrist appointments because he'd read the notes in the file cabinet about Alex once. "At least you're fine now, that's all that matters." He said and then waited to see if she would go and retrieve the videos or not.

She frowned gently. She wish she knew what to tell him really because she didn't know what it was like for Alex to be that way. "I know, but you can't just stop believing in him. I wish that I could be more help in this department, but my depression never escalated that far. I don't know what's going through his head anymore like I did at one time." She said softly as she laid her head down next to his shoulder. She gently sifted a hand through his hair softly as she listened to him. She looked to where he said that he kept them stored, but she didn't get up to go watch them. She figured he wouldn't want to watch them.
She looked back at him and nodded gently. "That's right. I've just got to learn to be more careful." She said softly as she laid her head back down next to his shoulder her hand rested on his shoulder gently as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath then opened her eyes and she looked up at him.

"Can you remember the day that I had to go get Alex from the library because he was having a panic attack or something? And how you went outside and a little while after that I broke down. I looked up and noticed that Alex actually looked shocked." He said and then wondered why he told her that, maybe it was because that was the last time that he'd actually had hope in Alex changing. It seemed as if he had been starting to get better but then he backslid a lot. He had figured that everybody did that and he had still worked at getting him not to be scared of him. But then he'd backslid even more and that was when he had given up hope with him completely. Up until a couple of days ago when he'd decided that it was now or never for making friends with Alex again, and it turned out that he'd gotten the never part. He didn't even know if he wanted to try again since he knew there was a high chance of him getting hurt worse.
"Don't worry you're probably more careful then I am. And I think that this hurt knee kind of proves that." He said and then looked over to her and smiled slightly. "What time is it anyway?" He asked knowing that if it was really late at night that his whole system would be out of it for awhile. Since he normally wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night and then stay up all night.

She looked up at him and frowned softly. She looked down at the the ground for a moment then looked up at him. She gave off a gentle smile. She remembered that day pretty well. She had gone outside afterwards to clear her head and to calm down and stop crying. Come to think of it Thomas had come outside to check on her after he had his little break down and he technically gave her a shoulder to cry on. She looked at him and kissed him softly on the cheek. "It's good to hope, Thomas. Even if the chances are slim." She said gently as she looked him in the eyes.
She frowned softly looking at him. "Don't you dare say that. You know very well that this isn't a hundred percent your fault." She said gently as she laid her head on his shoulder softly listening to his heartbeat. She sighed softly as he asked what time it was. "I'm not entirely sure." She said gently as she closed her eyes for a moment. She opened them again and looked up to him. "Do you want or need anything?" She asked softly as her finger circled over the middle of his chest softly just to give her hands something to do.

"The chances are very slim that Alex will not only break his silence for me but actually starting to play basketball again. Since the doctors said that he could, in fact they encouraged it. But as far as I know he's never tried again." He said and then sighed, if only Alex would at least try then that would completely change things. Maybe he wouldn't be so far into things if he knew that he'd at least tried. Then again, maybe he would be worse because he would know that he wouldn't be able to do it. What his theory of why Alex had never tried to play again was the fact that he figured that Alex thought that he wouldn't be as good as he was before the accident. And that he was afraid to try again and be proved right. One time though, he'd caught Alex watching him play and noticed the look on his face. It was like he wanted to be out there but he was nervous about what would happen once he started to play.
"I don't really need anything but I'd like for my back and shoulders to stop bothering me from laying so still for so long. I don't think that you can help me with that though. The last time that I was laying in the same spot for so long was when I came down with the flu really bad a few years ago." He said and then moved slightly in an attempt to make things better, but it didn't the only thing that he accomplished was sending a shock of pain through his knee because he'd moved it. The pain killers really hadn't kicked in yet.

She looked at him frowning softly. "Maybe if you weren't so negative about it." She said softly looking down at her hands. She brushed her hair out of her face then looked back at him. Negativity never helped situations like what Thomas's was in with Alex.
She watched him as he shifted and frowned when she saw the pain wash over his face. She shook her head gently. "Oh, on the contrary, Mr. Dehart. I know just how to solve that. Sit up so I can sit behind you." She said gently as she carefully started to stand up. She stretched upwards not thinking about the fact that her shirt lifted abouve her navel and it's piercing.

"I know, being negative is one of my major faults. But I just can't help but be negative with him. Since it seems like everybody else has given up on him except for a few select people." He said and then looked around, it was clear to him that Ryan had basically locked away all of the pictures that he had of Alex. Since there only was a select few out and he knew that they were probably out because of his parents. He knew that there was a photo album underneath the coffee table that contained pictures since he'd noticed it there during one of the rare moments he was awake today. He could only guess that it was kept there so that nobody else went through it. He was very tempted to go through it but now wasn't the time for things like that. "If you can solve that then I'll owe you, big time." He said and then watched as she stretched and revealed the piercing. He raised an eyebrow curiously as he looked at it for a moment before he slowly tried to sit up.
His first attempt was unsuccessful since he only rose a few inches off of the couch. But that failed attempt wasn't going to stop him and on the second try he sat all the way up. "I only have one request, and that's to be gentle since my back and shoulders hurt from falling on the floor after I got hit." He said and wondered how long it would take for the physical pain from all of this to go away completely.

"Which is all the more reason not to give up on him, Thomas. If you do give up on him then he has no chance because you and your sister seem to be the only two in your family that really cares what happens to him." She said gently as she looked at him. She absently ran a hand through her hair. She smiled gently at him. "But what would you do for me if you're going to owe me?" She asked playfully as she watched him sit up. She had just the thing in mind if he said what she hoped he would say.
She sat down behind him once he sat up the second time. "Don't worry, I'll be as gentle as I possibly can." She said softly as she reached her hands up and her thumbs started to work circles into his neck. She could feel a knot in it too so that probably didn't help his discomfort. Her hands gently worked on his back and continued downward working out tense or knotted up spots whenever she could find them then worked her hands back upwards just as gently.

"Well I suppose that I could oh I don't know, try not to give up with Alex. In fact, as soon as I can actually walk around again maybe I'll try and talk to him again. Of course, I'm not going there alone next time." He said as a plan started to take shape in his head. It would be easy to go home where his parents were not there, and he knew his sister was usually out with her friends during the day. So they could just go over there and catch Alex off guard. The hard part would be trying to get Alex to listen to him. Not to mention, if he put up a fight he might not be able to defend himself too well. But that was where Ryan came in, that was if he was willing to help him. Although he was sure that he would, but he knew that even he was growing tired of putting up with Alex's acts. Not to mention he might not want to get scratched up again or have something worse happen to him.
He instantly started to relax once she started to work on his neck and back. He really hadn't known that he'd been so tense until he finally started to relax a little more. "I must say, you are very good at this. You just better hope that I don't fall asleep like this." He said as he forced his eyes open. Just as he did that he heard a clock chime from somewhere in the house and he counted the number of times it rang. So it was just eleven o'clock at night. Which meant that he'd probably slept most of the day away.
