MacKenzie wandered round the mall mostly for the sake of having something to do. She wanted a new pair of black heels to match a skirt she had bought the other day, but to be honest she wasn't really in the mood for shopping. She was surprised to see no one she knew at the mall, and was hoping to run into someone for something interesting to do.
In a moment of paranoia, she stopped to reapply her pink lipgloss and ran her hand over her hair to check that it was in place. Just as she did so, she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to see who was there.

Ok, so lately he'd found his life very boring since it seemed as if nobody was throwing any parties at all. Sure he could throw one but at the moment he didn't know when his parents were coming home and it wouldn't be a good thing if they showed up and he was having a party. And drinking alone wasn't the most fun thing in the world. It was then that she noticed a girl who he recognized as MacKenzie Blake, he'd seen her around but he really hadn't talked to her much for some reason. So, why didn't he talk to her now in his moment of boredom. He walked up to her and tapped her shoulder lightly and stepped back slightly just as she turned around. "You look as bored as I am at the moment. I mean seriously you'd think that there would be something to do in this town." He said and then smiled at her, he was still trying to decide if he should try and flirt with her or just simply speak with her.
Now, he was fairly confident that she would recognize him because of the fact that most people around here knew who he was. Then again, maybe for some unknown reason she didn't know him. But that idea seemed rather bizarre.

MacKenzie looked up at the boy she immediately recognised as Ryan Andrews, though she hadn't ever really had a conversation with him before. She had always thought he was quite cute and had enjoyed admiring him from a distance, so she was pretty happy he was making the effort to talk to her.
"I am incredibly bored. I was just hoping for someone to hang out with actually," she smiled and flicked back her long blonde hair, trying to suss out whether there was any point in flirting with Ryan.
She wondered if he knew who she was, or had simply approached her because there was no one else around. She certainly hoped so, or she would have to put serious effort into improving her reputation.

So they were both looking for the same thing, somebody to hang out with. Everybody else seemed to be busy or off doing things with their families. When he was younger his parents used to take the family off on trips all over the place, but now that were out of town ninety five percent of the time leaving him and his sisters the house to themselves. But his sisters were either home at a different time he was or when they were home he was passed out in his room either from lack of sleep or from alcohol. "That's what I was hoping too because it seems as if everybody has abandoned me at the moment. So what do you say MacKenzie, how about the two of us go and find something to do?" He asked curiously and hoped that she would say yes because there was a ton of things that they could do. He just hoped that none of those things involved somewhere where there was a ton of kids because small children really annoyed him.
He wondered if she was surprised that he knew her name, she shouldn't be though. Because he knew a lot of people and he actually had wanted to talk to her a few times but his friends had basically dragged him off to go do something before he could ever get the chance to.

MacKenzie was flattered Ryan knew her name, and glad she had made enough of an impression to be memorable. She understood exactly where he was coming from - everyone seemed to be out of town at the moment, and it wasn't not like her mother or father ever had time for her nowadays. She wished someone would hold a party, or some sort of social occasion, because the summer was dragging on for her.
"I have the same problem, everyone's gone away it seems. I'd like to go do something, what do you feel like doing?" she smiled up at him and waited patiently for his response. She was never great at thinking up ideas.

What did he feel like doing? Well, he felt like doing something that wasn't just sitting around all day. He couldn't stand to do that, especially when there was nobody to talk to. But, now that there actually was somebody to speak with he probably could stand just sitting around and talking. "Well, I really don't know amazingly enough. Just as long as it doesn't involve sitting around and being bored." He said and knew that she probably wouldn't want to do something really active which was fine with him because he'd already went out for a run this morning. It had been a short one compared to some of the ones that he went on but he hadn't really been up to a long run this morning. Just then he got an idea, well it wasn't really an idea it was just something that would help them decide where to go. "Well, my dad did allow me the use of his credit card which I do have on me. And it would be a shame if I didn't get to use it." He said and then smiled, his dad hadn't even noticed that he'd used the card numerous times before on things and he found that rather amusing.
He knew that his dad was just trying to do anything in his power to get him to like him more. It was probably one of the reasons why he'd bought him an expensive sports car for his birthday last year. But the day after he'd done that his dad had to fly off somewhere because there was an emergency he had to deal with and his mom had simply just flown off of wherever she had been working at the time. Sometimes he just wanted his parents home for once, because he did miss them at times. But now, he was happy that they were gone because he hadn't really cleaned the house up from the last party he had held.

MacKenzie grinned at the thought of spending money, it was her favorite hobby. Since her parents had divorced, she had spent a lot of her father's money. He was on a guilt trip about the break-up and living away from her and all, so she pretty much got anything she wanted. This month, however, his funds had been a bit tighter than usual so she hadn't been able to splash out on as much designer clothing as usual.
"Definitely. We should absolutely take advantage of the situation," she nodded.
Thinking for a moment, she wondered what he had in mind. MacKenzie didn't care where they went, provided it was entertaining. Deep down, she was a true party girl, and she loved to act on impulse and think of the consequences later.
She looked up at him, gave him her cheekiest smile and asked, "What do you have in mind?"

It wasn't like his father told him to spend as much as he wanted every time he went away. So she was right, they needed to take advantage of that. Because he didn't know when he'd get another chance at spending money freely again. He'd already bought himself a new pair of golf clubs just for the heck of it. He was toying with the idea of actually joining that team this year because he was rather good at golf and it would be something to do. He watched as she looked up at him and asked him what he had in mind. "Well, what I had in mind was buying some stuff and then perhaps going back home and maybe having a small scale party. Since I absolutely hate partying alone and the club isn't open yet." He said and then smiled back at her, yes he could have a lot of fun spending money with her. Since he knew that she probably was like him, and wouldn't buy any "cheap clothing" like what was at Wal-Mart. Sure he went there for other things but he'd never buy cloths there.
And if she agreed to that small scale party he could either bring out the alcohol or have it be a sober one. Sure he thought that parties with alcohol were a lot more fun but it all depended on what she wanted. Since she had basically won him over with that smile of hers. And he wasn't won over easily.

MacKenzie smiled inwardly. The thought of partying appealed to her almost as much as the thought of shopping. She hadn't been out drinking in what seemed like forever and now was her big chance. She wondered if he was as much of a party animal as she was, and she really hoped so. The summer had been pretty dull, with most of her friends out of town and doing other things.
"That sounds awesome to me. I could really do with some fun." she smiled, noticing again how good-looking Ryan was, and wondering if he was at all attracted to her. What was she thinking? Of course he was, who wasn't?
MacKenzie congratulated herself on finding someone who seemingly enjoyed spending money as much as she did. Buying clothes was much more fun when you had someone with you.

If it was fun that she wanted then she had found the right person. Since he loved to have fun, and what better way to do that then to buy some things and party? Not to mention, he had the house to himself which meant that he had access to tons of things. Just as long as nobody fell in the pool or something everything would be just fine. Now that he thought about it though, it might just end up being the two of them at the party since even his party buddies were busy. "Good, because I'm sure that my day has just shaped up to be pretty fun. Now which store do you feel like spending money in first?" He asked, it didn't really matter to him where she wanted to go since he was sure that she'd end up spending a lot more money then he would. That didn't matter to him though because he'd just went on a huge shopping spree a week ago but if something caught his eye he definitely was going to buy it.
"I've got to warn you though, the gossip column does call me the resident alcoholic for a reason. Not to mention I live for parties." He said and knew that she probably knew all of that stuff since he figured that she was an avid reader of the gossip column. He only read it just to see what was written about him well, that and to find out the latest gossip.

"Well, I'm on the hunt for a pair of shoes," she responded cheerfully, "You don't mind having a quick look round the shoe shops, do you?"
She was impressed that he was willing to come shopping with her - most boys she met just weren't interested in shopping. She laughed at his "resident alcoholic" comment... she had absolutely no problem hanging out with someone who drank a lot. Hell, she loved alcohol, even though she had been known to get obnoxiously drunk and do stupid things.
"I don't really care what the gossip column says, to be honest. Though perhaps that's because there's never been anything in it about me. Plus, who gives a damn if people think you're an alcoholic - at least you know how to have a good time." she smiled and hoped he wasn't put off by her forwardness and fondness for alcohol. Not that it seemed that way, it appeared that MacKenzie and Ryan were quite similar creatures.

"No, I don't mind at all I'll just let you go about your business in there. Since I wouldn't be any help with shoes at least, not heels or something like that." He said and then wondered what people would say when they found out that a girl went shopping on his dad's credit card. They'd probably think that he was serious about her, but he'd never been serious about anybody. Maybe that was because he was the oldest so he really hadn't watched older siblings date or something. Then again, maybe him having a ton of flings with girls would have happened anyway even if he did have an older sibling. Then again, they might have tried to stop that from happening but he would have resisted. He listened to what she said and with those words that she said he knew that they were basically the same kind of person. "Well, you're lucky then because I'm in every single issue for something...or at least that's how it seems. But you probably will end up getting in there now if somebody ends up seeing us together." He said and then dug his dad's credit cared out of his pocket for a moment just to make sure he still had it. He then shoved it back in his front pocket and pulled his cell phone out to check if there were any missed calls and there wasn't so he just shoved that back in his pocket also.
"Just out of curiosity when did you move up here? Since I've seen you around a lot but I can't remember when I first saw you." He asked, knowing that if she said that she'd lived here her whole life that he would feel really stupid. But then again, if her parents had money then his parents would have met them which meant that they probably would have brought him along with them if they knew her parents had a child around his age to play with.

"Thanks a lot," MacKenzie smiled, walking into the nearest designer shoe store and examining a pair of rounded-toe black stilettos.
She wondered if she should feel guilty spending his Dad's money, then realized she'd have absolutely no problem lending out HER Dad's money to somebody else. Anything that had the possibility of hurting her father was good, in her opinion. She wondered if Ryan felt the same about his Dad. She considered the possibility of being seen together and having a story printed about her in the gossip column, but decided it was worth the risk.
Laughing, she said, "To hell with it... there's no such thing as bad publicity, right?"
As she approached a sales assistant to inquire about her size, she turned back to Ryan. She wasn't surprised he asked when she had moved here, it hadn't been that long ago really. "Just a year ago," she replied, "I'm from New York, my mother moved me here about a year after my parents split. Something about not wanting to raise us in the big city. I think she thinks we'll grow up as whores and crack addicts if we live in the city. She's a freak," Mackenzie began to tap her foot impatiently as she tried to get the sales assistant's attention.
"EXCUSE ME! This shoe, size seven?!" she said in a snobby tone to the assistant, before wondering if she had annoyed Ryan with her high maintenance attitude.

So she had moved here a year ago, well that would explain why it seemed like she was new to the area. "Wow, well doesn't she know that this is a city? I've lived here my whole life but my parents have brought me basically all around the country with them. My sister got to go to Spain for a year." He said and hoped that she knew that he wasn't bragging and that he was just stating the facts. Because some days he really hated being known as "one of the stupid rich kids". Of course, those days were few and far between. And they only happened when somebody tried attacking him or something. He watched as she studied the shoe, he did have to admit that she did have good taste, or at least that was what he thought. Since he knew that his younger sister had several pairs of shoes like that that were just in different colors. He listened to how she got the assistant's attention, he could understand why she was mad though. Since he hated it when didn't even seem to notice you in a store.
He could tell that she was high maintenance but he didn't care since he'd dealt with girls like that before. "If people wanted you to spend money in their stores you'd think that they'd be a lot more helpful." He said not really caring if the assistant heard him or not.

"No, obviously she knows this is a city," she giggled, "I meant as opposed to New York City, the city that never sleeps and all that jazz. She doesn't want us to grow up too quickly. I still visit my Dad in New York once or twice a year though."
The sales assistant had said something like, "Yes, of course Miss Blake," then muttered something under her breath about MacKenzie's manners. She spent a lot of money in this store and they knew her by name.
"Tell me about it, I spend a lot of money in here, they might as well pay attention to me," she laughed.
Within a few minutes the sales assistant had returned with MacKenzie's choice of shoes. Without bothering to try them on, she took them to the check-out, asking for "A pair of the pink flip flops in a seven as well please."
"So, have you anywhere you want to go now?" she grinned at Ryan.
