She grinned as she seemed to have surprised him. Well most people would be...As he was now the only person who knows we better not get on each others nerves, weve got dirt now she said but only teasing him as she bumped into him squeezing his hand a little naw, sean doesnt even know I like to fish, there was no reason to ever tell him ...or if there was a time or chance i didnt tell him she told him shrugging. She realy didnt know why she'd never told sean. She seemed to tell Sean everything but it was just something that'd never come up. Sure "secrets" had.....but she didnt go into all that, she was just fine keeping it bottled up. But hey Branden had been nice eneough to share his horsebackriding...ok so she was there and saw him but he wasnt denying it, so he deserved to know she guessed. She laughed no i know what falling off a boat is like, i promise, i wont push you off the boat she said grinning her head leaning on his shoulder as she looked out across the pond who knows mabey catch a glimpse of like the worlds biggest fish or something.....she could have high hopes. i trust star too..........i normally dont talk to horses but i used to watch mr ed she said laughing. She could remember watching reruns and when it came onto tv now years later she'd forced sean to sit and watch about two hours of it once with her..........she knew he probably wasnt too happy about it, but she was thrilled and watned to show someone..... She'd told her dog things before but never a horse....of course it wasnt every day that she was around horses either. She grinned and though back...She realy had to think back how they'd met the first time......(lol gonna make it "Interesting" lol hahaha) oh i remember! how could I forget something like that she said shaking her head it was like a light had just come on though she hadnt told him yet so it was at one of the football games at the beginning of sophmore year.... i'd tollld the squad to back up a bit they were like going past the line but no one listens she said laughing i had just done a routine and was standing with two people holding my feet......you cought a ball running and "baM" just like a bowling ball ran straight through us....sending me flying she said laughing....She couldnt remember who'd caught her but someone had and it looked like they realy hadnt meant to by the look on their face they'd seemed a bit surprised to catch a cheerleader from the air......thats all she could remember of it...they'd stopped the game to make sure everyone was alright...a bag of ice and katie was back out cheering

"Well it's a good thing that you trust Star because you're probably going to be seeing a lot of him. There's only two other horses that I really ride here often." He said and then looked back over to where Star was, the horse was now nudging Ozzie with his nose trying to get his attention. Apparently the horse was getting bored with just standing around. He then looked back over to Katie as she told him how the two had met. And as soon as she started to tell him he immediately remembered and immediately he started blushing. That had been really embarrassing, sure he'd caught the ball but still he honestly hadn't wanted to plow into the cheerleaders in the process. "Oh yeah, I really am sorry about that. But you don't have to worry about me running into you guys anymore because I'm not the one who tries to catch the ball anymore. I'm the one throwing it and hoping that the person I'm throwing it to catches it." He said and then smiled at her, the person who usually ended up catching it was Sean. And it wasn't because he was the only one that ever got it thrown to them either. He usually made up for other people's mistakes somehow.
"That was the first time in a very long time that they'd decided to put a couple sophomores on the team. And I really hope they didn't regret it but I can't read minds so I don't know." He said and then looked down at the sand for a moment she probably knew who else they'd put on the team. She'd probably been one of the first people to hear about that since she most likely had heard it from Sean. And he'd been the first person to find that out because Mark had let it slip. Since according to Sean, Mark wasn't going to tell him anything and that he was just going to get dragged along to the first day of practice with him. And he later found out that was what Josh had been planning on doing too. It had been a really big deal at the time and it probably had been what had suddenly elevated him up into the clique a lot more. The only bad thing about being on the team at that time was the fact that he'd been stuck on the team with Josh and Mark for a year. In the beginning they'd made it very clear to everybody that if they messed up that they wouldn't be getting a second chance. That was the reason why he was glad that he'd caught it since he'd earned a lot of respect from the older members of the team after that.
He checked his watch and he realized that they'd better get back since it was getting a little late out. And he really did not want to ride Star back in the dark because it really wasn't that safe. "We'd better get back since riding in the dark might be fun but number one, I don't have a flashlight, number two I don't feel like getting knocked off because I didn't see a branch." He said as he looked at the water, he was rather proud of himself at the moment. Not just because he'd asked Katie out but because he hadn't ended up in the water.

she smiled well im just fine with seing star more, in fact if it means ill be seing you with him i cant wait she said grinning biting her bottom lip a bit. Her green eyes watched him, innocence written all over her face but with a "Katie" sort of twist put to it, a look that seemed she could only pull off....She watched star buzz around ozzie and smirked shaking her head. Though her attention quickly turned back to Branden well thats ok.... a sore ankle and a surprised football player, that was all that'd happened.....the tape looked pretty funnny though with me letting out a yelp that the coach described as " a dying poodle" she said laughing. She remembered the coach teasing her about it. People still teased her about it but it was always in good humor and she didnt relay mind.
She smiled im sure they didnt regret it, seing as how good you guys did last year. Of course i didnt get to see half the games she said giving a small shrug and grin. The cheerleaders were somewhat interested in the game soemtimes depending on who was playing but a lot of the time they ended up talking with the guys not playing....or cheering, one of the two, they were usually buisy though. I dont think they'll let many more if any more sophmores on any more though......they cant compare to you she said smirking leaning up to give him a light kiss.
She watched him and knew that he was right. Katie wasnt a night time person...not outdoors at night, she was fine going out to a club or being out with other people...but something like this she'd never been big into.....She'd gone camping once with just another friend and it hadnt turned out good..She was a bit freaked out by the owl making sounds nearby so that didnt last long. sounds like a plan.....im not big on being in the woods at night either and i should be getting home she told him letting him go and going to ozzie. She untied the horse and got atop him....after a few tries at least.......She then began riding towards home as she awaited for him to catch up on star first riding beside him back down the trail....By the time they'd gotten back it was dark out....the sun just barely over the tips of the horizon.......She brought ozzie into the barn to groom him......She realy had never groomed a horse, but she managed to get the bridle off before the saddle almost falling over when she tried to get the saddle off though

"I guess that you could say that the team was pretty good last year. Hopefully we'll be as good this year and if not I think that I'm going to get killed if we're not. I don't know by who or maybe Sean will protect me. Since I'm sure you noticed how he's like my personal bodyguard." He said and then grinned, Sean certainly did a lot for him. Not only was he his most trusted friend but he also made sure that no harm came to him, no matter where they were. Although sometimes things did happen during games but that really didn't count because it wasn't like he could be there all of the time. Besides, he didn't play defense he played offense. Although he probably would make a good player on defense because of how good he was at covering people. But he was so quick he was an asset to the offense. It was funny, whenever the newspaper mentioned him they'd always use words like dazzled and things like that. There was no way Sean could dazzle unless he got attacked by glitter or something.
He hoped that she knew that after saying that no other sophomore could compare to him had given him a slight ego boost. But he'd needed it since when it came to sports he was usually so unsure about things. Maybe it was because he'd been taught not to get overly cocky when it came to sports because it made you lose some sort of edge you had when you were unsure about the outcome. "Really, well that's a good thing then. Besides, if they let sophomores on the team I wouldn't be as nice as Josh was since I couldn't trust them. Now I know that the first time he threw the ball to me he didn't really trust me to catch it. But he did it anyway. I think that all of the sophomores are not at the same level that I might have been at then though." He said before looking at her, he wasn't trying to make it sound like he was so much better then everybody else. But it was the truth, the current sophomores still needed another year on junior varsity before they'd be ready to step it up to varsity.
"The woods at night are not so bad. I've went out running at night in the woods. Of course I was with Sean so I wasn't alone actually running at night was pretty fun and I should do that again sometime." He watched as it took her several times to mount Ozzie, he knew that it probably was because she was sore though so he wasn't going to hold it against her. He quickly untied Star and mounted him and in a few moments he was caught up with Katie again. Once in the barn he untacked Star and slipped a halter on him and then clipped him into the cross ties before picking up a brush and beginning to groom him. After he was about a quarter of the way finished he realized that Katie wouldn't know what to do. "I'll show you how to groom a horse in a couple of minutes if you want. I just have to get Star done and into his stall first." He said and then set back to work at grooming the horse.

She grinned She could tell that she'd boosted his pride a bit, but she liked it. It made her smile seing hi like that and she enjoyed that all the more. She seemed to be smiling a lot lately....nt that it was a bad thing she realy liked feeling how she'd been feeling lately She rode back with him mostly in silence but it was ok....She had a lot on her mind, thinking of her parents...They'd wanted to meet her tonight for dinner to talk of something but she'd refused....or rather she'd said ok and hadnt shown up...instead she came out riding wiht Branden and she couldnt have. oh...im used to beinng in the city and stuf at night........but its not that bad its kind of neat out she said as she turned a moment watching hte sun set over the lake
When they got back she continued to get the tack off....with a sort of difficulty that was something to alugh at...She realy didnt know much what she was doing.....When she tried to take the saddle off again she realy didnt think she could stand she got it picked up again and put away mmmhhmmm sounds good she mumbled form the tack room putting the tack away watching him as he groomed star awaiting his help......there were so many different brushes and hooks and stuff....and she didnt know which too use for what or where or anything.......

A few moments later he was done with grooming Star and had him back in his stall. The horse probably would be turned out for the night later. He picked up the saddle and bridle and brought them back over to the tack room and then he made his way over to where Ozzie and Katie were. They were a little short on time for an all out lesson on how to groom a horse but he'd try his best with the time that was given. Teaching somebody how to groom a horse was something relatively new to him since he'd only taught one or two people how to before this and those had been young children. Hopefully Katie wouldn't leave huge knots in Ozzie's mane that took a half hour to get out like those kids had. He'd left them alone for about thirty seconds and told them not to do anything but what did they do, they tried going solo. He was sure that Katie wouldn't do something like that with Ozzie.
"Ok, well first you use this brush but if he was really muddy or something then you'd probably be giving him a bath first. And with a horse like Star you'd end up getting soaked because he'd grab the hose from you and play with it." He said and then held the brush up before running it over the horse, he really wasn't that dirty and he wasn't even sweaty from the ride. "Then you'd use this one here and then after that you get the tangles out of his mane and tail if there are any. Well, you can do that at whatever step you want but still." He said as he used another brush on the horse he knew that he'd probably have to tell her this again but he didn't mind. Since he knew that he was most likely going way too fast. "And then, you clean out his hooves but you've got to get him to pick his feet up for you. And you do that by running your hand down his leg like this." He said and a few moments later all four of the horses hooves were clean he then put the horse back into his stall and then turned to look at Katie. "And that's pretty much it, don't worry it's gets a lot easier after you've done it a couple of times. Oh and don't be afraid to help with carrying the saddle over to the tack room. I wouldn't want you to almost fall over the next time you do so." He said and then moved to the side as the horse next to Ozzie tried to eat part of his t shirt.
((I could've given you a whole explanation on how to groom a horse but number one, I'd have to re-read part of my horse book. And number two, that would be way too much dialog for me.))

Katie tried to take in all that he said but probably couldnt get it all in so easily, but she did her best. It was a lot of information for her in such a small ammount of time. After all she'd never ben on a horse before this let alonge groomed one. It was all new but it was a good new. She watched and did what he did on the opposite side of the horse though he ended up finishing much faster...It was dark out now though and she knew she needed to get home.
She walked the horse to his stall and put him up for the night grinning when he said he'd help her next time with the saddle" ill tak e you up on that " she said grinning. She watched him and finished putting the stuff away or rather...more or less helping him put the stuf away......She peeked in on the other horses bight eyes wandering from stall to stall a " kid in a candy shop" look on her face as she did so, amused by all the horses in there.... alrighty im gonna head home.... she told him smiling arms wrapping around him a moment as she kissed him before letting him go and heading out to the car....She drove towards home excited about how things had gone that night.

"Yeah, I'd better head out now too." He said and then watched as she went out to her car and left. He stayed around for a few minutes more checking on the horses and thinking about how things had went that night. Everything had just seemed to go so smoothly, he had been expecting things not to go as easily as they had. Even when he had asked her out he had thought that he wouldn't be able to put things as he had. A few moments later he was in his truck and driving back home, and once he got there he was going to call Sean up and tell him about what had happened.
((And now this goes to the archives))
