Meesha was walking down the bank of the river. Her feet were bare and her jeans were cuffed up to her knees to avoid mud stains. Her green eyes were searching over the glistening surface of the water. What exactly she was prying the depths of the river for, she was unsure. Perhaps it was a memory, or an answer to one of her many questions. The very questions that ran continously through her pensive mind and haunted her dreams.
She sighed heavily as she walked to a series of rocks a few feet away. As she had done many times before, she climbed to the highest point of the ragged rocks and sat, still staring out at the water. She smiled as the sun hit her face. It was a relaxing warmth that caused the recollection of how her mother was always so warm when she hugged her.
Meesha always loved venturing to this spot by the river. It was similar to where her Chou Giam took her in France after her father died. The two had spent the entire day together. Meesha always believed it to have been a way for her mother to try and push the tragedy from her daughter's mind. Whatever the reason, it was one of the few happy memories she had left of her mother.
As her memory ended, a small tear fell from her eye, and streaked her cheek with black residue from her heavy eye make-up. As quickly as the tear came, she pushed it away. Meesha didn't like to cry in remorse for her parents, even if she was alone. At this moment in time, she thought of a song by the Dixie Chicks. It had a line in it that said 'They say time heals everything, but I'm still waiting." She nodded in agreement with the lyric.
She flipped her bangs out of her eyes and leaned back to lay on the rocks. It wasn't particularly comfortable, but she wanted to watch the clouds. She had been told that the answers she sought, would be found in the skies.
