This sucks.
Sighing Mathew stared at the slice of pizza on a paper plat that sat in front of him. The mall was big enough and the food court was... ok but he just did not like it here. There just didn't seem anything to do. Well it was more like there was nothing to do it with. And it wasn't like he was bored because he didn't have any friends here. He didn't really care about making friends here. He wanted his old friends and his old home. It was too clean and quiet here. The air was too fresh too. He missed the comforting smell and sound of the Metropolis.
As for the people moving around him in the mall laughing and joking around he paid them very little mind since he didn't care much. His gaze was fixed right on to his uneaten pizza. His hand would move up to sweep his bangs out of his hair in a futile effort before the bangs fell right back where they had been before.
Finally after what seemed to be a lifetime he would take a bit of his now only semi warm pizza while his other hand reached in to his pocket to turn up his I pod so the music would blare in his ears. The song that was playing at the moment was Mad World which fit his mood perfectly so he let it play on as his fingers drummed on the table.
Maybe I am going at this all wrong. If there is nothing to do maybe I can make something to do.... Maybe buy some bird seed and dump it in the parking lot so the birds can have a field day with target practice in the lot. Or I suppose I could egg that asshole neighbor of ours house.... That would teach him to call me a punk...
And with that thought a small grin started to form on his face as he plotted just how to make his life here a bit more on the interesting side.

Okay, so Maddie and Nicole weren't having such a great day. Maddie was frustrated with the fact that her arm was up in a sling and cast and that made it difficult for her to sketch and even a little difficult for painting. So Nicole had decided they were going to spend the day at the mall. Nicole of course had her digital camera. It was practially permanently attached to her wrist at times like this. "Nicole, put it up. You know I don't like being photographed." Maddie said lifting the purple cast and black sling up towards her face to avoid being photographed.
"Oh, Come on, Mads... I need pictures to commemorate the fact that you're wearing your first cast ever." Nicole said enthusiastically as she snapped a picture of her friend anyways. Nicole and Maddie would definately be considered polar opposites in looks. Maddie had that punky look to her with her black hair and purple, red, and blue highlights and tips in her hair, and her ratty shirts and jeans, some of which had oil paint on them from her paintings. Though Nicole did think that it definately added to the unique look of Maddison West along with her violet eyes. Nicole just looked the average pretty girl that wore name brand clothes and her soft long brown hair that was down and in it's natural wave and very little make-up.
"Well, good luck getting any good pictures from me then." She remarked as they walked into the pizza parlor. She rolled her eyes as she finally let Nicole snap a picture.
"Thank you." She said happily as she looked at her and frowned gently. "Smile, I don't want a picture of you rolling your eyes at me. I've got enough like that." She remarked. She nodded and did a thumbs up when Maddie finally put on a fake smile that looked remarkably real to people who wouldn't know Maddie.
"There, happy now?" She asked gently looking at her.
"Not really, but it'll do for now." She said as they walked up to the counter, both of them laughing gently, and they ordered their food then sat down at a table and started to nibble at their slices of pizza.

Once he started eating he finished off his slice fairly quickly as his Ipod switched from Mad World to Homies which brought his mind back to his old friends with a slight frown. Looking up though his eye was caught by two girls talking to each other and eating. He couldn't hear what they said and he didn't really care all of that much. Instead he just looked at them checking them both out rather openly since he didn't care if they knew he was checking them out. He wasn't gawking but he was not hiding the fact was all.
Both were cute too which was a definite perk. It only took a moment of consideration before deciding he was going to try his luck with picking one of them up. Getting a phone number or something. And if not well... no big deal.
Getting up he would toss his plate in the trash before heading up to their table and giving them both a smile as he swiped his bangs to the side in a fluid motion
"Hey sorry to bug you I just saw you two talking and I wanted to ask you both a question if that is ok."
Providing they said it was ok for him to ask them a question he would continue with, "If your girlfriend kisses another guy is that cheating?"

Maddie had noticed Mathew checking them out, but it didn't bother her too much. At least he wasn't all out gawking like most guys would. They chatted a bit longer and Maddie was kind of glad that Nicole had decided to bring her to the mall to perk her up a little, though she wished she could be at home painting a little. Both their gazes looked up to the sound of a guy and Maddie frowned when she saw that it was Mathew, but she quickly swiped it away. She looked to Nicole and gave it her a questioning look.
Nicole looked back up at him and nodded gently. "Uh, sure, we guess." She said gently with a curious note to her tone. She frowned at the question and looked to Maddie. "Mads you want answer this one or shall I?" She asked gently.
Maddie looked up at Mathew frowning now. "Duh, unless the guy's the one to make the move and your girlfriend blatently stated she wasn't interested." She said gently looking at him then to Nicole. Her hand reached to her cast as she felt a small itch and she frowned gently remebering that the cast was kinda in the way to itch.
Nicole looked back to Maddie and frowned softly. She had yet to complain about the fact that she couldn't get to her itches under it and she was proud of Maddie being that way. She wasn't really one to whine about things like that. She looked back to Mathew with gentle green eyes. "That would be the same answer for me, only with a much more colorful vocabulary probably." She said laughing gently as she looked back to Maddie who was smiling and knew exactly what she was talking about.

He would nod before going on with the question since it was not over yet. But it was easier to just ask it one part at a time so you don't bombard them with questions.
"OK fair enough. Now is it cheating if a girlfriend was to kiss another girl?" He would ask waiting for their next answer though he figured it was going to be similar to the last one. Though in his past experience a lot of girls were more unsure with this part seeing as so many guys were really in to the girl on girl thing and found it hot. But that was besides the point and actually had nothing to do with his choice of questions.
When both answered he would smile again before speaking once again. "Thanks I do appreciate it. Just moved here and one of my friends from back home called me and asked my opinion on it. So I just wanted to make sure I gave him the right answer." He would say tossing a look over his shoulder before looking back at both girls.
"Mind if I sit down a second? Can't stay long since I plan to check the place out being new and all."

Nicole frowned when she heard his next question. She looked at Maddie for a moment then looked back to him. "Uh, yeah, unless you like that kind of thing I guess." She said gently then picked up her drink and took a sip of it then looked to Maddie. The two girls nodded gently at his explination then they swapped looks.
Maddie looked back up at him as Nicole siped on her vanilla coke a little more. "Um, sure, we don't mind a little extra company." She said gently as she picked up her drink and took a sip of the sprite then set it down.
Nicole looked back up at him and smiled gently at the mention of him being knew to Twin Lakes. "Well, then you're getting a nice hardy welcome from two locals." She said sweetly looking at Maddie then back to him. "Where are you from?" She asked sweetly as she brushed back some of her air behind an ear.

He would take his seat when they said they wouldn't mind any company. He would return the smile of the brunette. Then gently giving her shoulder a playfulish shove he would say with a small laugh. "So are you going to introduce yourself and your friend or am I going to have to make up nicknames for you?"
He would lean back in his chair making himself a little more comfortable if not so much that it would show he was thinking about staying around since he wasn't. Like he said he was only planning to stay here a minute or two. He would give both girls a chance to introduce themselves before he went on to introduce himself hopfully completing the circle of names and getting things going.
"Well you ladies may call me Mathew if you would like." He would say flashing another smile to the brunette who had smiled at him before followed by a less flirtatious smile to her friend who didn't seem to be showing any interest in him.

Maddie looked at him and gave him a gentle smile. "I'm Maddison West." She said gently looking at him before she took a sip of her sprite.
"I'm Nicole Martin." Nicole said sweetly and smiled gently then looked to Maddie. "Maddie's the resident artist around here." She inclined gently.
"If you haven't noticed I'm kind of out of painting for a bit though." She said gently gesturing to her arm. Maddie frowned and rolled her eyes. "And Nicole's the resident photographer." Maddie added gently shooting it back to her because she didn't like to draw attention to herself. She got enough of that drawn to her on her own with her odd eye coloration and sense of style.
"Oh, I just piddle with it here and there." She said gently waving her hand in the air. She wasn't much for drawing attention to herself as well. Most of the time attention that was drawn to her was drawn to her for the wrong reasons. Like a guy liking her for her looks and nothing else.
"Oh, bull, I honestly think you would dye if you didn't have a camera in your hands every waking minute." Maddie said looking at Nicole who was starting to blush a little now at Maddie's bluntness. She shot a look at Maddie because Maddie knew that she didn't like attention drawn to her that much. Maddie gave her her own little look to

He would let out a small laugh at the exchange of the two girls. It was... cute really. Even more so that one was blushing over it. But it was about time for him to go since he had said he was only going to stay shortly. And he wasn't about to appear clingy, because he wasn't.
"Well it was nice meeting you Nicole, you too Maddison" He would say as he got up from his chair to go check out the rest of the mall looking down at both of them and flashing them each a smile though Nicole got one that was a heartbeat longer than Maddison did.
"So I will see you around unless you want to come with me...." He would say leaving it open for them to say if they did or not. If they said no or didn't answer after a few moments he would turn and leave with a last smile. If they said they wanted to come then he would wait for them to get ready before leaving with his new companions. Either way he was done with the food court.

Maddie nodded her head gently looking at him. She gave him a friendly smile and then took a sip of her drink looking to Nicole. Nicole looked up at him and nodded. She looked down at the table, but both of them looked back to him at his offer. Nicole looked to Maddie with a questioning glance. "Um, sure, we'll join you." Maddie said gently looking at Nicole.
Nicole smiled and looked up at him. She looked back to Maddie before she stood up and looked to Mathew. "You know you never answered my question. Where are you from?" She asked curiously as she looked to Maddie who was standing up and rolling her shoulder that had her broken arm on
"Well, he's obviously from a big city if he's at the mall and he's just arrived at Twin Lakes." Maddie said gently as the two threw away their trash. Nicole knew that was true. Most new people to Twin Lakes came to the mall first if they were from a big city.
Nicole looked at Mathew and rolled her eyes. "Don't mind her. She's just upset because her arm's got her stuck in the painting and sketching department." She said gently looking to Maddie who didn't argue about the comment because it was mostly the truth.

"I am from New York. Family thought.... the country air would do me and my sister good." He would say nonchalantly with a shrug as he waited for them to get ready and up before just walking with them down a random direction in the mall since any direction was as good as another in his book.
"So is there actually anything to do in this town? I mean besides wander around the mall aimlessly that is?" He would shrug taking in the mall as they walked taking a position next to Nicole opting to be closer to her. But not to close. Certainly not close enough to accidentally bump in to her or something like that or crowd her.
"There just doesn't seem to be a lot to do here really. Nothing like home at least. There something was always going on. I miss the fast pace of the city. If that makes sense." He would say with another laugh.

Maddie looked at him and smirked. "What did I tell you, Nic? City slicker." She said teasingly looking to Nicole. Nicole rolled her eyes and looked back to Mathew smiling.
"She's too good with reading people I think." Nicole said looking back at Maddie. She looked back the Mathew and pondered about his question. "Well, you could aimlessly wander about the boardwalk." She said laughing gently looking to Maddie for anything else there could be to do.
"There are a few big house parties a few times through the year." Maddie threw in casually as she looked through the entrance of a store in thought. Ryan Andrews was the more common party thrower along with his buddy Thomas Dehart, who was seeing her and Nicole's new friend from Greece.
"There's the lake beaches too." Nicole said gently looking into the window of a shoe store as they walked by. "Most teens here just make their own fun really just because of the fact that there's so little to do here." She said looking back to Mathew. "Me and Maddie were always making our own fun." Nicole said looking to Maddie smiling.
"That's because we ended up chasing after your little brother half the time. Like that one time that he had gone missing and we rode all over town on our bikes looking for him come to find out he was behind your dad's recliner the entire time." Maddie said laughing gently at the memory. Nicole had been so made about that because they had wasted most of a saturday looking for Jacob when he had been behind the recliner the entire time. But now when they looked back on it they both laughed about it.
"Or that time he hid a rubber snake under the couch coushins at your place Maddie. He scared your house cleaner senseless with that." She said laughing gently. She looked up to Mathew. "My brother's the perfect example of someone who makes their own fun." She stated smiling gently then looking to Maddie who was nodding her head in agreement.
