Maddison wasn't pleased at all at the moment as she sat at the park with her sketching pad in her lap. Jeanette had called her to talk and told her about what Neils told her about what happened at football practice. He didn't know that Maddison had been dating David at the time, but he knew when he told Jeanette and she said something about it. After that Maddison had called David once she calmed herself down a little and asked him to meet her at the park.
Now she was calmed and she was sketching a picture of a dad and his daughter having a small little picnic a few yards off waiting for David to show up. She wasn't going to let him know that she knew exatly what she knew because she wanted to see what he would fess up to first. She was just going to play "Mrs. Cool and Calm" until she knew how much he was going to say.

David strutted through the park, if you could call it that. He walked this way most of the time, but it was a proud and defiant walk so it could very well have been a strut. His hands were stuffed in his pockets as he searched for Maddison West, the girl he was bound to.
He spotted her sketching on a park bench and smiled to himself as he started walking faster to reach her. His smiled broke as he saw her own expression, one of worry and secrecy. One that told him she knew something or needed something he didn't want her to. He stopped about three yard from her and stood waiting for her to look up at him.
All he could do was watch and wait. He didn't know how to approach her.

She heard his approach before she saw his feet over her sketch pad. She looked up at him and gave him a very sweet smile even though she was mad. She wanted to toy with him a little bit before she chewed him out a little. "Hey." She said sweetly then looked back down at her sketch as she worked in a few small details.
She figured that the message she had left would have him a little more shaken up since she had said the four fatal words "we need to talk", but apparently it hadn't gotten to him. He didn't even seem to be wondering what could possibly be wrong that they needed to talk about.

David knew something was wrong now, the words on his cell phone were beginning to sink in. "Alright Maddie," he said softly and carefully, "What's going on?" He knew she wasn't going to tell him probably, but maybe she'd surprise him and be nice. He sat down beside her and peered at her drawing. A father and daughter, what a surprise. It was sad really, she never saw him but yet thought about him so often. It was something he completely understood, and totally didn't get at the same time.

She looked up at him when she knew it finally sunk in. She loked to the father and daughter for a moment of thought then back to him. "Jeanette was telling me about what Neils said about football practice yesterday while I talked to her on the phone." She said casually as she looked back down at the sketch and added in a few more details to the sketch.

David tipped his head to the side curiously and thought for a moment. There wasn't really much to say, what could be the problem? He gestured with his hands for her to continue, "So? What happened?" he looked into her eyes as directly as he could, but she wasn't looking at him, so this was difficult. What was so horrible that she couldn't look at him?

She wasn't looking at him because if they had direct eye contact then he would see the fire in her eyes and he would know she was mad with him. She finally turned and looked at him. "I don't know, why don't you tell me?" She asked gently looking him in the eyes as she closed her sketch pad and put the pencil through the spirals of it and crossed her arms across her chest.

David leaned back as she looked at him. Her violet eyes blazed angrily and he latched onto them, something growing in his own that was not quite anger but at the same time not quite apologetic either. He couldn't for the life of him figure out what she was talking about, "Maddie," he said cautiosly, "What's wrong?" His voice was low and quiet, trying to figure out what was up without upsetting her further.

"Don't play stupid with me David." She snapped angrily looking at him. "'My style is pure talent.' Does that ring a bell for you? After all Neils says those are the exact words that came from your mouth. That along with a few other choice words that I don't want to repeat because you should know what I'm talking about now." She said angrily. She was hoping everything would click for him. She couldn't figure out what would posses him to go and flirt with another girl when he already had her as a girlfriend. It felt so horrible to hear that from Jeanette, and she had wanted so bad to not believe her, but when she put Neils on the phone to talk to her she knew they were telling the truth. Why would they make up such a horrible story? They wouldn't because Jeanette knew how much she liked David.

David jumped at the sudden hostility in her voice and stood up, his eyes now holding something that was not anger, not fear, not even apology. His was an expression of shock. He nodded slowly, "Yes, I know what you are talking about. What I do not know, is what you want me to do about it." He allowed his eyebrows to angle slightly. He wondered what she expected of him, what she wanted him to do to fix it. Whatever it was, he would try, unless it was undoable and he knew it already.
He didn't want her to believe that she wasn't the only one he thought anything about.

She looked up at him for a moment then to the park playground. "Why would you flirt with another girl when we're already together? Why would you do that to me?" She asked standing up and looking at him. She was very angry with him now and she wanted nothing more than to slap him across the face. She stepped away from him and started to gather up her sketch book and put it in her messenger bag. She was afraid she was going to punch him or something out of anger and regret it dearly later.

David watched her turn around before rolling his eyes, sure that she had not seen it. He spoke with purpose now, not afraid of an argument because she had already started one. "If you didn't notice before we started going out, I'm like that. I had a girlfriend and flirted with other girls all the time. They never minded. I certainly wouldn't mind if you flirted with other guys as long as it didn't go farther than that." He tipped his head and stepped forward, grasping her arm before she turned back toward him, "And you know that if you leave we won't figure this out." He looked into her eyes with a matter-of-fact look.

She frowned softly and looked up at him. "If you haven't noticed, David, I'm not like all the other girls you've gone out with. The biggest difference being that I actually have a brain." She said angrily trying to control herself some. "And don't you dare give me that load of bull. For one thing I wouldn't go up and flirt with a guy in the first place because that's just plane wrong and it's not my thing to do. Second of all this little thing called jelousy... yeah don't lie and tell me you wouldn't feel the smallest bit of jelousy if I were to flirt with another guy." She said as she put her messenger bag onto her shoulder. She felt his hand grasp her arm and she looked down at it before looking up at him. "I know, but I'm afraid I'm going to punch your face it." She said gently looking down at the ground. She didn't make an attempt to throw his hand off though.

He nodded while she spoke, and when she spoke of punching him, he couldn't help himself, he had to laugh. He pulled her into a hug and chuckled for a while before speaking, "Oh, Maddie. If you must know, this is the biggest reason I asked if you trusted me." He looked down at her, "If you trust me, you will know that I mean it when I say, this will never happen again, and if it does, it will go no farther than words."

She frowned when she watched him laugh. She let him hug her for a moment then pushed away from him. "If you think that letting you even think about touching me while you're saying sweet things to me is going to make up for all of this you will be sorely disappointed. You're past girlfriends may have not minded you flirting with whoever you wanted whenever you wanted, but I do. It makes me feel like you don't really care about me." She said looking at him then down at her hands for a moment before brushing her hair back. She looked up at him after taking a deep breath. "If you want me to trust you then don't do it. It's that simple, David." She said gently as she felt her phone vibrating in her pants pocket and she pulled it out. "Yeah?" She asked gently. "Yeah, I'll be there in a bit." She paused for a moment. "I'm at the park." She said gently looking to the ground. "Yeah, Mama, I'm okay." She said gently knowing that her mom could tell she wasn't okay just by her voice. "Alright, I'll be there when I can get there since I rode my bike here." She said gently. She clapped it shut and looked back to David before she turned. "I have to go." She said gently looking at him for a moment then to where she had her bycicle parked.
