He watched her for a moment and shook his head. "I highly doubt it Katie." He said gently looking back out the window as he leaned against the wall. He hated that he had blown up like he did, but sometimes his temper got the best of it. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath then looked to Katie. "I'm sorry for blowing up on you, but you need to stay. I didn't say that you could have died just scare you to death. It's true. If you're not found soon enough or cooled down in time then you can die from a heat stroke. That's why as soon as I realized what happened I carried you to my care and put my air conditioner on full blast. You need to stay. Please. The doctors said you could leave tomorrow morning around ten or eleven if they see you fit to leave." He said gently as he walked over and sat back down. He looked down at the ground for a moment as she chewed on his bottom lip.
He looked back up at her for a moment. "I suppose now you want to hear the entire story right?" He asked gently. Most people did after an outburst like that. It wouldn't surprise him and it was easier for him to talk about it more than it was Jeanette.

she looked at him and felt nautious still thinking of spending the night here..........she'd need to call i the reserves at least. she rummaged around on the table with her things next to the bed and called her parents on her cell phone she reassured them she was fine and looked at neils as she told them all she wanted to reallyyyy do was go home. But after talking with them she settled for her laptop for the night...food not from the hospital.....and a stack of dvd's they promised theyd bring later.
She set the phone back down and looked to him " ya the whole story would be nice right about now she admitted sitting up a bit but sliding back down as she thought her face might turn green from nausea....

He looked at her and watched as she picked up her phone. He chuckled gently as he heard her say how badly she wanted to go home. He smiled gently when she hsaid that her laptop, some food not from the hospital, and a stack of dvd's would do for the night. He watched her set the phone down and then looked up at her. He nodded. "I thought you would." He said gently looking at his hands for a moment in thought.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath then opened them and looked up at her. "About six months ago, Jay and our dad, were in a wreck. They were on their way home from some kind of qualifying figure skating competion or something to that extent. I'm not entirely sure what really happened, but from the way that Jay described it they were going through a green light and a car ran through the red light to their side and rammed them into another car on their other side. Our dad was killed almost instantly and Jay had been knocked unconcious and her leg had been pinned under the dash. Her other leg suffered injuries, but not as severly as her left leg." He said slowly looking at Katie then around the room before he continued. "She spent the first few nights in the ICU rooms with a cast on her left leg to keep it stable till we could move her. We had to come to the states for a while to have her leg reconstructed because Greek hospitals aren't as advanced as the hospitals here. The first month was mostly reconstruction after reconstruction with a week of rest between each surgery. Once they had finished all of that we went back to Greece and we spent the next two months going in and out of our local hospital to check up on her leg and do all the physical thereapy that she has to do. She hated it so much. There were actually a few times where they had to sedate her before they could do anything because of the flashbacks she would have." He looked down at his hand for a moment then back up at Katie. " It was almost like she had lost a part of her in the wreck because the doctors here in the state said she wouldn't be able to do figure skating anymore. So for the first few week when we weren't doing something for our mom she stayed locked up in her room with her guitar that our parents had gotten her for christmas the previous year. That or books. When she finally opened up she just wasn't herself, so she decided she needed to get away from Greece and she signed up for the foreign exchange student program. I still don't know why, but our mom felt like she needed to get away to, so she sold our house and the buisness that I had taken over once our dad had died and we packed and moved to here where Jay was." He said gently looking up at her. He just looked kind of sad unlike Jeanette who would probably be on the verge of tears by now if not crying already.

Katie listened intently she couldnt believe it all or take it in. That seemed to explain everything. Why he was here the accent, his sisters brace. She coldnt skate? she skated in the first place? She didnt know any of this...thogh she still didnt know MUCH aobut his sister at all but it was beginning to come in and she was beginning to get the whole story. She watched looking...worried? she didt know what to say at first but thought about it
Katie was known for saying the first thing that came to her mind, whether it was a good thing or not she realy wasnt sure but it was something that had always happened to her. well thats stupid she told him crossing her arms again a bit outraged doctors over here are idiots........telling her she could never figure skate is like the weatherman saying we'll nevr have rin again its impossible....i need to have a talk with that girl she said shaking her head looking at hiim yand you guys just gave up hope?? Well i have something to tell you..... America is the land of opportunity and whoever told your sister that should be happy he doesnt get a piece of my mind....becaus im his worst nightmare she said going off saying a few words in italian again as she lifted her hands up almost pulling the iv out actually shaking her head saying some more before BEGINNING to settle herself down

He looked at her confused at her statment then it clicked as she started. "Do you honestly think she would give up that easily? You want to know what she did that first week when she could walk on that leg again?" He asked looking up at Katie. "She went to the skating rink she's practiced at since she was a little child and she did jump after jump for two hours, every day for a month. You want to know what happened every time? She fell, her knee buckled and she fell. Her knee is practically nothing but metal and plastic. It doesn't have the power or the strength to hold up to something like that. Do you have any idea how much it hurt to watch that? I encouraged her to keep going. Whenever she felt like giving up I would give her a little push." He said gently looking at Katie. "After that she just gave up. It not only broke mine and mama's heart to see that. I felt like Dad was looking down on us and I could feel his heart breaking when he saw that. After that she just locked herself up in her room and packed away everything, except the tapes, that reminded her of her dreams, and she shoved them into her closet never to look at them again. There were days I would walk in on her either on the verge of tears or crying while she was watching the competitions she had performed in since she was twelve."He looked away from her running a hand through his hair. "She would never give up her life long dreams so easily. She was destined to be a great skater and then the accident screwed up everything. She may be able to figure skate a little, but she's never going to be able to compete in major competitions like she used to. I never gave up on her and I'm still hoping that deep down maybe one day she'll try to figure skate again, but at the way she's going I seriously doubt it." He said gently looking back up at her. He didn't want to say a lot of the reason why Jeanette had given up, but a lot of it had been because their dad wasn't there anymore. Their dad had been with her all the way since she started competing when she was twelve. He had never missed a single skating recital or competiton. Neils knew that that was a lot of the reason why.

she looked at him. She wasnt dettered form her point. There had to b something that his sister could do, if she loved to skate there had to be something. Some precedure. Some time some way...mabey she was stronger now, she had to be able to do it. That was one thing that katies dad had gotten through her haead as a kid and it had never realy set in the "right" way. She thought that ANYONE could do ANYTHING it didnt matter what their situation was. There was a way and they could find the will.
That look came onto Katies face and she looked ever so determined well if she got onto te dance team then she'd be slowly working all those muscles and then she could...try again? she said it sounded somewhat like a question but the way she presented it it was more of a "thats what'll happen" katie always was seemingly thinking she was in control of the world and everything in it. Not in a bady way but she thought sthat she cold affect anything and everything and thats just how it would go

He looked at Katie for a moment then down at hishands. She certainly was a determined girl. He had thought that the most determined person he knew was Jeanette, but now that he was having this conversation with Katie he knew that she had more determination than Jeanette. He looked back up at her and frowned gently.
"It's entirely up to her now, Katie. I've done all the pushing and prodding I could. If someones going to show her she could still do it then it's not going to be me. She's heard it from me enough. It's up to her. If she wants it bad enough maybe one day she'll try again." He said gently looking down at the floor in though. He had told Jeanette time and time again she couldn't let her dreams down. He had even asked what she thought that their dad would think if he were there. He knew that he wouldn't let her give up. Neils didn't have the patience like their dad had. Things like this he gave up to easily on. It was starting to get to the point that he didn't know what to do anymore.

she looked at him sternly well then its up to me to help if you wont help any more...you need some patience she told him patting his soulder and grinning. She had something to do. Katie always liked having things to do and if she was going to stay here all night she surely was going to need something to occupy her time. and this would be it, her schemin and planning. She knew that with time and patience she could get her to do it again and it was for Jeanettes best interest. She new if she only skated again she could be as good as she was before.
She looked to neils try talking to your sister and get her to work on her dancing im sure she'll make the team ill work on things from there, she'll be back on the ice in no time she told him. Quite proud of her own decision to do it. She sat back staring at the wall for a while thinking until someone said her parents had come and brought her some stuff...they hadnt stayed though...she wasnt surprised they werent ones to show that they "cared" if they did. She opened her laptop nand set her food on the trey beside the bed

He looked at her and frowned. "You say that as if she'll listen to me. She quite listening to me on this particular subject about two months ago. I'll try to talk to her, but I can't guarantee that she'll listen." He said gently looking at her. His gaze went to her parents and he introduced himself, but he noticed they didn't stay very long. He looked back to her once they were alone again. "You know, I'm not going to stop you if you really want to help that much." He said gently with a small smile on his lips. He glanced at the clock then back at Katie. "I better go. Give you a little time to rest and try to relax. You make sure you do what the doctor says now." He said kindly as he stood up. "If you need somebody to get you tomorrow, just give me a ring and I'll come get you." He said sweetly looking down at her.

She couldn only hope and wait thinking the best would happen. She watched him introduce himself and watched her parents leave for a moment a lok of dissapointement in her eyes but she learned to not be bothered by it anymore. She nodded when he said he was gonna leave and she held back a small grin naw i dont think ill need a ride but thanks she said grinning and sitting back in her chair doing some stuff on her phone

He smiled gently and nodded. He backed away from the chair graciously and nodded his head. "I'll see you around, and from now on. Go easy on the running." He said teasingly as he stepped out of the room and started down the hall to the main lobby. Once he was outside he stopped and looked up to the hospital for a minute before he made it over to his car He got in and cranked it up for a minute just thinking. He finally put it into drive and pulled out of the parking lot and headed back to the Foxworth Apartment complex.
